We all Married Idiots

It’s not newsworthy to share that the divorce rate is around 50%…but did you know that the rate increases with each subsequent marriage? Investing in marriage, staying the course and learning what to accept and what to improve are helpful tools shared by author Elaine W. Miller.

I married an idiot–and so did my spouse. The word, “idiot” is derived from the Greek word meaning “common man.” Aren’t we all common man? In fact, there is only One who was uncommon man–Jesus Christ.

In relationships we need to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and run a marriage marathon like an idiot, but not like a fool. An idiot may stumble or fall, but a fool runs the wrong way.

I’ve learned that there are some things that simply will not be “corrected” in spouses. Husbands and wives will have more joy if they stop concentrating on the three things they will never change and focus on the ten things they can change about their marriages. Then you will “esteem your spouse as a gift to treasure, not as an idiot to tolerate.”

I hope you’ll share some of the “idiotic” habits you (or your spouse) has and which ones you believe can be changed. You’ll be entered to win a copy of We All Married Idiots. Share this with some of your married friends on social media. You can even pin this post on Pinterest!
